Who We Are

We are a creative hub using storytelling and theatre to inspire change, nurture talent, and unite communities.

Our Journey…

Story Makers was born in 2015 from a simple but powerful belief: stories shape who we are, and every child deserves the chance to shape their own. It began with one storyteller in a small community hall, sharing tales rooted in heritage, hope, and heart. The joy on children’s faces, the wonder in their eyes, and the quiet transformation that followed revealed something profound: storytelling was more than performance—it was a tool for healing, for learning, and for raising confident, creative voices.

That spark grew into a movement. A movement to advocate for children—especially those from underrepresented and marginalized communities—and to mentor them as creators and narrators of their own stories. Out of this vision, Story Makers was founded: a home where young people could listen, imagine, speak, and be heard. A space where oral storytelling became both a bridge to the past and a path to the future. Today, our vision is clear: to ignite imagination, preserve cultural wisdom, and empower communities through the transformative power of oral storytelling — advocating for children’s voices and nurturing the next generation of storytellers through mentorship and creative expression.

We work closely with children and youth, equipping them with skills in performance, creative writing, and public expression while instilling pride in their cultural heritage. Through mentorship, we help young people grow into confident narrators of their own stories—leaders who can carry forward traditions while shaping new narratives for the future. What began as one voice is now a growing chorus—storytellers, educators, mentors, children, and youth walking together, story by story, toward a world where every young person knows their voice matters, their culture is celebrated, and their story can shape tomorrow.
